Located just west of the park on Poplar Creek is a secluded swamp that was once a mill pond decades ago. You will paddle up the cove along the rental cabins in the park on one side and Poplar Creek Landing on the other. Bald Cypress abound in the shallow upper end of this shady, quiet swamp. You might see white tail deer on the bank or come across a family of raccoons sleeping away the day in a cypress tree. Barred owls and wood ducks are also common in the area.
